target chapter 4
by duck“Shouldn’t we open the door? Does it make sense that the young lady hasn’t pulled the servant’s bell once all night?”
“She must be deeply distressed because of His Grace, the Grand Duke. Please, I’m begging you, don’t knock. Alright?”
“Haa… fine.”
Creak, slam! The maids clutched their chests as the door suddenly swung wide open, and they stared at Lynne. After a moment of stunned silence, they spoke urgently.
“M-my lady?”
“…Whoa.”
“Is there anything you need? If you tell us…”
Normally, their day began with the young lady yanking their hair. She would be shrieking, grabbing and throwing whatever was at hand! The maids trembled, clutching each other’s arms. As they stood there, stuttering in fear, Lynne took a breath and spoke.
“What’s on the schedule for today… yo?”
At her warm tone, so unlike the usual Lynne, the maids exchanged glances. They tilted their heads at her as if they were encountering a new species of human.
“You’re scheduled to visit the ducal estate, I believe? As you always do.”
“The ducal estate? Grand Duke Miller’s estate?”
“Yes, the residence of His Grace, the pride of our empire.”
“Oh, my…”
Lynne whispered, almost inaudibly, “‘I see. I must visit the estate of the empire’s pride,’” a slow smile spreading across her face. It vanished as quickly as it appeared, and she spoke again.
“Then, I’ll get ready to go out. Will you wait… yo?”
“What? We can help you!”
“Oh, well then, that would be nice.”
Our young lady can make a smile like that! The maids let out a silent gasp and entered the room with bright smiles of their own.
Holy crap, have I been reincarnated? And as the rich daughter of the Sert viscounty?
And so, Harin was reincarnated into the R-19 dark novel, <The Swamp, Love, and Imprisonment>. As the incredibly flimsy villainess, Lynne de Sert.
There wasn’t a part-time job Harin hadn’t worked. From convention demonstrator to mascot at an amusement park, to salesclerk at a popular cosmetics store. It wasn’t that she was struggling for money; she just had more things she wanted to buy than most people. She was a little lonelier than others, so she had more friends, and she simply had a lot she wanted to enjoy. But all of that required a full wallet! What good were friends when money flowed out with every breath? But her money worries were finally over!
The Sert Viscounty… isn’t that a golden-spoon family? This is a pretty good trade for my old life, isn’t it…?
It wasn’t like she had anything to lose. It was better than being buried in her past life, considering parents who didn’t even check if she was alive or dead as family.
Wow, this is so awkward! Me, born with a golden spoon? I can really just eat, play, and have fun without working? I don’t have to force a smile to please anyone? I can go to as many balls as I want!?
And to top it off, her role was that of an extra villainess who dies a pointless death while obsessing over the male lead! That meant as long as she didn’t obsess over him, she would be fine, right?
Heh, reincarnation is the best! I’m so glad I pre-studied K-romance fantasy reincarnation stories!
Yes, this was a stroke of luck! Just like the general tarot readings she’d seen online, this was a great fortune, a gift from the heavens. Of course, it was a bit of a shame about Miller, who was incredibly handsome and a total beast—her number one pick. But was the original male lead the only handsome man around? She could just date a handsome extra, right?
They’re all the same in the end. No matter how well they treated me, it always ended the same.
She’d had an ex-boyfriend who used her name and influencer account to sell his own products! And that wasn’t all. Another one had claimed his house burned down, so she broke her savings to help him, only to find out that was a lie, too.
Lynne clenched her fists with a determined expression. As soon as she stepped out of the carriage, she pressed her face against a boutique window. Her excited expression faltered for a moment as she saw her own reflection.
“Still, having only black dresses is a bit much.”
“You said that black was the best color for sneaking into the ducal estate…”
It sounded just like the original Lynne, who was truly sincere in her obsession. Lynne laughed awkwardly at the maid’s reply.
“Since we’re here, I should take a look at some dresses. What is this, a black-themed lookbook?”
Lynne looked over her reflection in the glass and clicked her tongue. Though the maid found it strange, considering that just a few days ago her lady had been demanding she bring her the Grand Duke, not go shopping, she just smiled and nodded at Lynne’s words.
But… I’m kind of pretty, aren’t I? I don’t like the color of the dress, but I’m still pretty!
Lynne flapped the see-through lace part of her dress and examined herself from head to toe. The craftsmanship was so exquisite it was as if there was an artisan who specialized only in lace. If she had a phone, she would have already posted a storm of selfies to her social media! Lynne clicked her tongue in disappointment.
#DailyLife, #OOTD, #Gangnam, #ReincarnationRocks, #Dress, #Style, #F4F, #L4L
She used to get plenty of likes even without hashtags like those! Ah, was her account okay? She hoped it hadn’t been hacked. After a moment of worry, Lynne looked at her reflection in the mirror and smiled again, pleased.
I could go to my ex-boyfriend’s wedding just like this, Harin Lee! Good job being born! I’m gorgeous!
Lynne twirled the hem of her dress and smiled, her dimples showing.
Come to think of it, is there no such thing as social media in romance fantasy novels?
No, they have magic and mana, so why no social media? They have magical beasts and an unrealistically handsome male lead. If there were something similar, she could become a celebrity in no time. The thought was so amusing that she let out a lovely little laugh.
Jingle. At the sound of the small bell on the shop door, Lynne reflexively turned and put on her customer service smile.
“Welcome to…”
